Luke Matone Architect is a design-led, RIAI-registered practice based in Ceann Trá, Co. Kerry. Established in 2024, the studio works across a diverse range of projects, approaching each new challenge with curiosity, care, and a commitment to quality.

With over a decade of experience in award-winning architectural practices in the UK and Switzerland, Luke brings a collaborative and tactile approach to design — one grounded in a deep respect for place. His work aims to be both poetic and purposeful, drawing inspiration from Ireland’s cultural and environmental richness while blending contemporary design with vernacular forms, local materials, and traditional craftsmanship.

Each project is shaped by its unique context, with a strong emphasis on atmosphere, proportion, and detail — resulting in enduring, site-specific spaces that enrich everyday life.

Luke Matone

BA (Hons), M.Arch, PG.Dip, MRIAI
Registered Architect

Luke studied architecture at Kingston University (RIBA Part I), London Metropolitan University (RIBA Part II) and the University of Westminster (RIBA Part III).

He gained experience in a range of award-winning international practices, training with Christ & Gantenbein (2012-2013) and Herzog & de Meuron (2013-2014) in Basel Switzerland, before returning to London to work with Tuckey Design Studio (2014), Casey Fierro (2016) and Morris+Company (2017-2023). His portfolio spans a diverse mix of sectors — from public and private housing to hospitals, cultural buildings, and art galleries.

Originally from Bristol in the southwest of England, Luke relocated to Ceann Trá, near Dingle on Ireland’s southwest coast, in 2023, and founded his own architectural practice there the following year.

Beyond architecture, Luke enjoys planting, growing, and cooking at home, as well as cycling, swimming, and sailing along the Kerry coast.

Services

We offer a comprehensive and personal architectural service — clear, structured, and fully aligned with RIAI standards. No jargon, just good design.

Whether you’re looking for a one-off consultation, guidance through a particular stage, or full architectural services from first sketch to completion, we can tailor our involvement to suit your needs and budget.

We’re also building a trusted local network of consultants in planning, surveying, and construction. This helps identify what’s needed early on, so your project runs smoothly from the start.

And if your site is within 10 km of Ventry, Luke will cycle to site visits whenever he can — a small gesture toward lowering carbon emissions, and a lovely way to take in the view.

Fees

We believe good design should come with clarity and trust. That’s why, unlike most practices, we confirm our fees upfront. They’re fixed and only change if you choose to add additional services.

Our fees are based on your project’s size and broken down clearly across each stage, giving you full transparency and control. This approach lets you see the value we bring — at a fair and affordable price.

We also offer a free, no-obligation property visit to discuss your ideas and confirm the scope of your project.
